Selene started with a drawer full of jewelry nobody wore anymore.

Not because it was ugly. Because it did not last. The gold wore off the chain that came with a compliment every time. The ring left a green mark after one summer. The earrings had to come out before every shower, and eventually stayed out.

We thought that was just how affordable jewelry worked. It is not. It is how plated jewelry works when a thin layer of gold is dipped over brass or copper, and almost all of it is.

What we do differently

Every Selene piece starts as 316L surgical grade stainless steel, the grade used for medical implants. There is no copper, no brass, no lead and no nickel in it. That single choice is why our jewelry does not turn skin green and why it is safe for people who react to almost everything else.

The 18K gold goes on using PVD, a vacuum process that bonds the gold to the steel instead of coating it. The result is a finish that survives the things real life throws at it: showers, sea water, sunscreen, sweat, sleep.

That is the entire idea. Jewelry you put on and then forget about, because there is no moment where you have to take it off to protect it.

What we will not do

We are not going to tell you a piece is worth $200 and then sell it at $60 all year round. Our prices are what the jewelry costs, not a number invented to make a discount look good.

We would also rather be honest about what this is. Selene is not solid gold and we do not pretend otherwise. It is well made, wearable, waterproof jewelry at a price that means you can own several pieces instead of one you are afraid to wear.

Standing behind it

If the colour on a piece ever fails, we replace it. There is no time limit on that, and the full terms are on our Lifetime Colour Warranty page.

Shipping is free on every order, worldwide, with no minimum. If something is not right, you have 30 days to send it back.
