Lifetime Colour Warranty
Most gold plated jewelry has a shelf life. A few weeks of showers, sunscreen and perfume and the colour starts to dull, the edges go coppery, and the piece you loved ends up in a drawer. That is not bad luck. It is what happens when a thin layer of gold sits on top of brass or copper.
Every Selene piece is built the other way around.
What your jewelry is made of
We start with 316L surgical grade stainless steel, the same grade used for medical implants. No copper, no brass, no lead and no nickel, which is exactly why it will not turn your skin green and will not irritate sensitive skin.
On top of that goes 18K gold, bonded using PVD, or Physical Vapour Deposition. Instead of dipping the piece in a plating bath, the gold is bonded to the steel in a vacuum chamber at high temperature. The layer that comes out is many times thicker than standard plating and it is fused to the metal rather than resting on it.
That is the whole reason this jewelry can be worn in the shower, in the sea, in the pool and at the gym without any of it mattering.
The warranty
If you experience a significant gold or silver colour issue on a Selene piece, you can submit a claim at any time. There is no time limit.
Once a claim is approved, you are eligible for a replacement or store credit.
What is covered
- Significant gold or silver colour issues, including fading, dulling and tarnishing of the finish
What is not covered
- Lost jewelry
- Pearl discolouration
- Normal wear and tear, including scratches and minor damage
- Damage caused by misuse, accidents, impact or improper storage
- Free mystery items and promotional gifts
Conditions
Items must have been purchased directly from selene-jewelry.com. Please keep the affected item, as we may need it for the claim. Selene Jewelry reserves the right to deny a warranty claim.
Store credit issued from a warranty claim is intended solely for obtaining a replacement item. It is final sale, cannot be combined with other discount codes, and is calculated on the basis of any promotional discount applied to the original purchase. Jewelry received as a gift is eligible for store credit only.

Keeping it looking new
The warranty exists so you never have to think about this, but a little care goes a long way. Rinse with fresh water after salt water or chlorine, dry with a soft cloth, and store pieces separately so chains do not scratch each other. No polishing, no dipping, no special products.
